What Are Solar Solar Panels Made Of?

What are solar panels made of?  Well, most of them nowadays are made of amorphous polycrystalline silicon.  The beauty of solar panels is that they last  quite a while and are currently 97% recyclable.  And here’s something cool that you may not know about solar panels.  Ever watched a time-elapse film of a plant following the sun?

Tracker solar panels  are designed to follow the sunlight and get the maximum charge off the sun, a great idea copied from nature itself.  But what about solar panels that are fixed rack solar?

Fixed Rack Solar Panels

Let’s face it, if you live in Arizona, you most likely have a building that get’s some sunlight.  A fixed rack solar panel is placed according to Arizona’s position on the globe.  So, you can get maximum sunlight during both the winter and the summer months.  The nice thing about both types of solar panels is where you can put them.

Most people opt for putting them on their roofs, however, a great many apartment complexes and parking garages are placing them on their parking garages instead.  This makes an ingenious double use of space.  For one, it provides power to the building or buildings, and for another it provides shade to people.  If you have lived in Arizona long enough, you know that shade is something to aim for whenever possible, particularly in the summer. Here’s another fun fact about solar power. If you put the right sized mirror on the ground, it can boost the power output of a solar panel by up to 70%! Solar power isn’t just used down here, though.

Solar is used in outer space too. Look at the International Space Station or any satellite if you don’t believe us. It really is the energy of the future. So, what are you waiting for? Why not join the sustainable energy revolution and install solar panels today.
